UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of India

India prides itself on being one the oldest civilizations in the world, with its history, heritage and culture dating back thousands of years. Down the years, certain traditions, customs and rituals have been passed on from generation to generation, thereby maintaining a continuity with the past. These customs and traditions, peculiar to each community, serve to strengthen the bonds within the community and preserve their cultural heritage for the future. Several of these cultural practices and traditions have been included in the Representative List of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. These cultural practices and traditions shed light on India's cultural diversity and heritage.
