It is a part of the Gelugpa (Yellow hat) school of Tibetan Buddhism. Maitreya Buddha Statue is another major attraction of the monastery. The Dalai Lama consecrated this statue to promote 03 intrinsic ideas: Protection of Diskit village, prevention of war with Pakistan, and World Peace.
  •  Hunder Village: Nubra is famous for sand dunes which are found in Hunder Village – cold desert. Here you can find the Bactrian camel, with two humps, the main mode of transport on the silk route. Hunder lies 10 km west of Diskit Village.
  •  Sumur Village: It is another popular place to explore in Nubra Valley. There is a small monastery, traditional Ladakhi houses, and hot water springs that you can visit during the Ladakh tour.
