Shri Mahalsa at Mardol Goa

The Shri Mahalsa at Mardol Goa is one of the ancient temples which were in Goa long before the Portuguese invasion. Mahalsa, the Goddess is worshipped as a form of Shakti. At times the deity is also worshipped as the manifestation of Lord Vishnu as Mohini.

At the entrance a huge Dipta Stambha made of five metals greets the visitors. Built in the 17th century the huge Dipta Stambha has exquisite wood carvings which show the craftsmanship of the artisans. Originally the temple was situated at Verna in "Salcete Taluka".

One of the ancient temples in Mardol Goa, Shri Mahalsa attracts tourists from all over. Located a few kilometers away from the bustling city, this is located in a village called Mangueshi. During the festival people from all over visit this temple.

How to Reach Shri Mahalsa at Mardol Goa:

Located in Mangueshi, it is in village of Mardol. You can either take a bus or drive from the Dabolim Airport. Margao and Vasco da Gama are the major railway stations in Goa from where you can arrange a trip to Morjim.
