Tanglang La Pass in Ladakh

Tanglang La Pass is famed as the second-highest mountain pass in the Leh Ladakh region. It is located at an altitude of around 17000 ft, on the Manali-Leh highway. This pass in the Leh Ladakh region is considered the gateway of Leh, and tourists drive through this high motorable pass; scenic views on both sides are likely to make his journey wonderful. Besides the pristine beauty, the pass also offers an adventurous streak at its numerous rough and sharp terrains.

Like the other mountain passes in Ladakh, Tanglang La pass also has a temple and a stone marker informing the altitude. This marker and temple turn out to be very helpful for travelers. As the journey to Tanglang La Pass is not an easy one, one can make a halt at Sarchu and Upshi, which are the two nearby settlements of the pass. These two locations are only half an hour away from the civilization of Leh.
