Zojila Pass in Ladakh

Located on the National Highway 1D between Srinagar and Leh in the western section of the Himalayan mountain range, Zoji La Pass is a beautiful mountain pass overlooking snow-capped peaks and dense forests. Located 9 km from Sonamarg in Jammu and Kashmir, Zojila Pass is an important link between Ladakh and Kashmir. The pass is situated at an altitude of about 11,575 ft (3,528 meters), making it the second-highest pass in India.

During the India Pakistan War of 1947, Zoji La was seized by Pakistani raiders in their campaign to capture Ladakh. However, the pass was later captured by the Indian forces in a daring assault code-named Operation Bison. The operation achieved success due to the unexpected use of tanks, which was then the highest altitude at which tanks had operated during a war.

This high-altitude mountain pass offers a majestic view of the snow-capped peaks. You can cross this mountain pass during the Leh Ladakh tour from Srinagar and soak in the tranquility of this serene destination. This is a paradise for adventure lovers as you can feel the thrill of this high-altitude mountain pass.
